Executive Director to Statewide Professional Association

California Coalition on Sexual Offending

 

California Coalition on Sexual Offending (CCOSO) is a professional association whose mission is, “Together we can end sexual abuse.” CCOSO was founded in 1986 in response to the growing need throughout the state of California to provide a formally structured resource for professionals working with sexual offenders. Coalition members include representatives from law enforcement, criminal justice, mental health, and probation and community services dedicated to addressing the significant and complex issues related to sexual offending. CCOSO is comprised of 12 Regional Chapters that are located throughout California. CCOSO offers a nationally recognized conference each year alternating between Northern and Southern California. CCOSO is currently accepting applications for an Executive Director whose responsibility will include conference planning for yearly conferences attended by 300-500 individuals each year. In addition to event services, the Executive Director will provide support services to the CCOSO Board which meets 4 times a year. The Executive Director’s duties include assisting in the production of a quarterly newsletter as well as various brochures and other publications. The Executive Director is also responsible for handling membership activities.

 

The Executive Director position is a part-time position requiring approximately 600-800 hours per year related to conference planning, and 400 hours in general support services to the Board. The Executive Director supports the CCOSO Mission and goals and is the primary contact person for CCOSO and the general public inquires.

 

The annual conference occurs in early May and conference planning time peaks in the months of November-January for speaker selection and brochure development, and March to mid May for conference coordination.  The three day conference requires full-time on-the-site support from the Executive Director over a period of four to five days including transportation of materials and equipment to the conference site. The Executive Director provides secure storage for CCOSO records and material.

 

The position requires flexible hours to match the fluctuating needs of the organization. The Executive Director may work from home or from their own office with extensive reliance on E-mail contacts and management of the membership data base in Excel format. Must be able to hire and work with support personnel as needed and to establish and maintain good working relationships with individuals from a broad range of life experiences.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Bachelor’s degree

Event planning experience (two years minimum)

Mastery of Microsoft office environment, experience with data bases and graphic arts programs (Page Maker, Publisher, etc.)

Strong communication skills both oral and written

Strong organization skills

Ability to work independently

Ability to create and manage an agency budget

Demonstrated creative thinking

Excellent interpersonal skills

Good time management skills
